National Advisory Board

The advisory board is a five member team that will guide the development of the AIOCM's objectives, specifically, focusing on activities that recognize outcomes-case management as a process based on data measurement; developing and further advancing practical and theoretical methodologies; posing important questions and resourcefully pursuing answers about outcomes-case management; establishing standards for outcomes-case management; attaining quality monitoring in outcomes-case management practice; and continually evaluating and updating requirements for the national certification of outcomes-case managers to meet the needs of the industry.

Dear Members,

Allow me to introduce myself to you all. As of January 1, 2000, I assumed the position as Chair of the Advisory Council for AIOCM. I am excited at the prospect of being able to actively proceed in the development of strategies to professionalize outcomes based case management as it relates to implementation throughout the continuum of care, health and life. Some of the strategic directions we are going to be taking on this year will include: · Increasing our visibility. In this area we want to specifically establish ourselves as the leader in the development of the professionalization of outcomes based case management. We are going to be informing the following entities about our activities. - 100% of Human Resource Departments and Administration of hospitals, physicians group practice, payer organizations, third party administrator groups, etc. - Medicare and Medicaid - National Institute of Health - American Hospital Association - American Medical Association - Various professional organizations such as: American Nurses Association, American Social Worker's Association, American Respiratory Association, etc. · Developing standards for outcomes-case management practices. · Developing competencies for the practice of outcomes-case management. · Conducting assessment of needs in the implementation of case management and delineated areas of research. · Conduct research and develop solutions for challenges in case management in the 21st. Century. · Assess education needs and make recommendations to educational bodies. · To develop a recommendation for a salary structure commiserate with the actual work of case management. · To continue to expand the outcome based interdisciplinary model of case management. I am excited about the strategic direction set for the year 2000. As I move to accomplish these tasks, I may have to ask for help from the members. Your input will be crucial as to how successful we are. I will keep you informed. Have a wonderful New Year.
